CONKLIN AND ALVAREZ POWER WOODSON PAST ROBINSON

Article |

1/20/26 — In a hard-fought matchup, the C.G. Woodson Cavaliers defeated the Robinson Rams, 60-47. Woodson was led by Isabel Conklin, who scored a game-high 23 points, and Tazzy Alvarez, who added 21 points in a dominant all-around performance.

Robinson showed early promise when London Augustin opened the game with a reverse layup. The Rams’ aggressive man-to-man defense disrupted Woodson’s offense in the opening minutes, limiting their shot opportunities. However, Robinson was unable to capitalize, missing several scoring chances. With two minutes remaining in the first quarter, momentum shifted as Woodson went on a 9-0 run to take an 11-2 lead at the end of the period.

The Rams found some offense in the second quarter, scoring primarily off turnovers and converting long-pass layups. But when Robinson was unable to get out in transition, Woodson’s zone defense proved effective. Alvarez was a constant presence in the paint, scoring on multiple put-backs and finishing a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. Woodson carried a 10-point lead into halftime.

Augustin began the third quarter with a steal and a layup, but Robinson could not sustain a comeback. Conklin scored seven points in the quarter, while Alvarez added six more as Woodson extended its lead to 11 by the end of the third.

Robinson continued to play hard in the fourth quarter, but the Cavaliers maintained control. Conklin and Alvarez combined for 11 points in the final period to seal the win.

Makayla Childs chipped in nine points for Woodson. Robinson was led by Augustin and sophomore Kyndal Fitzgerald, who each scored 10 points, with Fitzgerald knocking down three three-pointers. Freshman Parken Mokaves also contributed 10 points for the Rams.
