WOODBRIDGE ESCAPES WITH A WIN OVER ALEXANDRIA CITY

12/21/24 - After never leading after the first quarter, Alexandria City found itself with the ball and only down by 3 points with 4 seconds to go in the game.Alexandria City called a timeout and designed a play for one of its star players, senior Victoria Patrick. Patrick, who scored 9 points in the first quarter, launched a 3 pointer that just missed and Woodbridge escaped with a 42-39 victory. The game was close throughout and mid-way through the 4th quarter, junior Jacari Jahi tied the score for Alexandria City but Woodbridge’s Zoey Coffer quickly hit a 3 pointer to give Woodbridge the lead for good. Woodbridge was led by the hot shooting of point guard Maia Melendez (18 points with four 3 pointers) and her backcourt mate Zoey Coffer (11 points). Alexandria City was led by Patrick (13 points), freshman Gabrielle Barnes-Thomas (9 points) and Jahi (10 points).
