ROBINSON REGROUPS AND KNOCKS OFF EDISON TO MAKE IT TO THE REGIONAL FINALS

2/27/25 – It is amazing what six days can do. Six days ago, with Robinson Secondary School's star player, Georgia Simonsen, seemingly injured, Robinson lost in the Patriot District Title Game by 28 points. Tonight, with Simonsen looking healthy again, they beat a tough and scrappy Edison High School team, 52-46, to advance to the Regional Finals against their rival, West Potomac High School. The Regional Finals game will be on Friday night at 6 pm at Hayfield High School.

Robinson maintained a small lead for most of the night. They led at halftime by seven points and by five points at the end of the third quarter. With back to back 3-pointers starting the fourth quarter by Kennedy Marshall and Shannon Heiner, Edison took the lead, 39-38. The game went back and forth until Madison Coutinho, with the score tied, hit a shot from the corner to put Robinson ahead, 48-46, with 55 seconds to play. Robinson’s Jaymie Bevins then hit two free throws and Simonsen then blocked Edison’s Giselle Hunter’s layup attempt to seal the victory.

But a big reason for Robinson’s victory tonight was the play of two of Robinson’s starters who usually don’t share in the scoring load. Tonight, senior Jaymie Bevins and junior Parker Lowden hit some big shots, taking the scoring load off of Simonsen. Bevins totaled 16 points and Lowden scored 8 points.

Kennedy Marshall had a monster game for Edison, and finished with 17 points. Senior center DaLana Massey-Thompson scored 8 points and senior Sarah Chawki concluded her stellar career at Edison by scoring 10 points.
