Article |

1/16/25 – After being down at the end of the first quarter 10-8, James W. Robinson Secondary School got into a groove and cruised past West Springfield High School, 48-22.

Robinson went on a 19-6 run in the second quarter, primarily from senior Georgia Simonsen and junior Madison Coutinho. The second half was even worse for the West Springfield Spartans – they were outscored 22-6.

The dynamic duo of Simonsen and Coutinho combined for 33 of the first 37 points scored by Robinson. Simonsen ended up with 22 points and Coutinho had 14 points.

Robinson faces a big test this coming Tuesday when they face the No. 1 ranked team in Virginia, West Potomac High School. West Potomac, who is undefeated, will be the heavy favorites to beat Robinson, who has only lost once this season, to Langley High School, 39-23. West Potomac, a balanced and deep team, will certainly focus its defense on Simonsen and Coutinho, who typically score more than 75% of Robinson’s points.
