2/28/25 – Senior Georgia Simonsen and freshman London Augustin combined for 32 points to lead Robinson Secondary School over West Potomac High School, 45-31, in the Occuquan Regional Girls Championship game.

After West Potomac started the game on a 7-0 run, Robinson settled down and gradually decreased West Potomac’s lead.

The quick and athletic Augustin was the unexpected star tonight. She scored 18 points and was all over the court, and was aggressive on both offense and defense. Her 3-point buzzer beater at the end of the second quarter tied the game at halftime, 18-18.

Robinson pulled away in the third quarter and outscored West Potomac 16-8, with both Simonsen and Augustin each scoring 7 points. Dawn Houston kept West Potomac close by making three strong drives to the basket in the quarter.

West Potomac could not get any closer in the fourth quarter. Augustin and Parker Lowden each knocked in five points to prevent West Potomac from cutting their lead.

West Potomac’s Houston finished with 11 points and teammate Lina Hashimi had 9 points.

The good news for West Potomac is that their season is not over. By making the finals of the Occoquan Regional Girls Championship game, they qualified for the state tournament. Their first game will be this upcoming Tuesday. Robinson will also play in the state tournament, and its win tonight assured it of getting a higher seed than West Potomac.
